ABOUT THE ARTIST

For me, art is an escape, a brief respite from our bustling lives. I hope viewers delve into the abstract backgrounds, creating images in their minds and asking, "How do you do this?" and "Can we touch it?"
As a child, I explored my creative side by making tissue-paper evening gowns for Barbie dolls, crafting sculpted flowers from mashed white bread and glue and randomly painting designs on my bedroom walls when the mood struck me. Even as a working wife and mother, I managed to create a designated area in my home where I could hide my mess and immerse myself in my creations.
My process begins with "fluid painting," an unpredictable dance of colors reacting organically on the canvas. I sculpt clay and plaster, layering depth, and texture onto a wood canvas, culminating in a smooth, glass-like finish with epoxy resin.

Nature, especially trees, is my muse. My art mirrors the beauty that surrounds us, blending traditional subjects with contemporary presentations. “Even though I’m a lifetime Hoosier, I continue to be awed by the beauty that shelters our state. The peaceful serenity that fills my soul when surrounded by nothing but the sounds of nature, while towered by the majesty of our native woodsman, is nothing less than spiritual. In a whimsical twist, most of my paintings are named after song titles, adding a touch of creativity and a hint of humor.
Just like my Endless Knot designs, my journey to create only changes, but never ends. |
